What is Splice?
Splice is a platform that connects job-seekers to agencies, allowing recruiters to find skilled individuals easily. Businesses are always adapting to meet market demands and Splice’s versatile design supports fulfilling these needs efficiently.
The Problem
Agencies are spending a significant amount of time just maintaining their professional network and must contact multiple recruiters in an effort to keep them up-to-date. Neglecting maintenance would risk of inaccurately portraying consultants’ skills sets, personas and target rates.
The Users
Consultants are becoming a bigger part of the workforce. Companies have a higher demand and agencies want to manage them more effectively. Splice is changing the way companies engage with them. It leverages technology to empower agencies and support consultants to achieve better results.
My Role
With my previous experience building apps across multiple platforms and operating systems from the ground up, I applied my knowledge while supporting the developers. I coordinate all facets of design including: information architecture, user flows, interaction, visual design and support product. I also assist with user research using focus groups, surveys and usability testing. Although the app is constantly improving through iteration after iteration, I am proud with how far it has come during my time at Splice.
Design Process
In order to move forward with what this app needed to accomplish, we assembled a focus group of target users (i.e. recruiters and consultants) and identified their pain points. They wanted an easier way to market themselves to the agencies looking for their skill sets and a faster, more affordable way to source and track consultants. Although we know this app can grow into something with incredible value, we focused on building it to meet the users core needs. Taking from the original MVP that was already implemented, we mapped out user flows and built a new version that improved the experience. This gave us a high level overview of the app and found this to be really helpful to evolve the features.
Personas
With the use of personas, consultants have the flexibility to showcase various skill sets under one master profile. This method of hierarchy allows them to apply to a range of different opportunities and be sourced by agencies faster.
Jobs
Consultants have the ability to track the opportunities they have applied to and filter through them.
Questionnaire
Our questionnaire parses data from the consultants profile and allows them to either pick their existing information or add a new entry. Any entries they add or edit in the questionnaire will be updated live on their profile.
Consultant Search & Wish Lists
Agents using the platform are not only able to filter through candidates by skills, rates and location. We built a Wish List feature that allows agents to vet and group consultants while they search.
Requests
Agents have the ability to create, prioritize and track their companies requests using a kanban card style layout.
Engagements
The engagement pool allows the user to filter applicants by location, rate and questionnaire score.
